0:00Hello, welcome to Entertain This, a podcast about movies, TV shows, and video games. My name is Hayton. With me have Mitch and Tom. Hello. Today we're discussing the 2019 cult classic, The Fanatic. Alright, partner. Keep on rolling, baby.

0:19Tom:I didn't like that. Oh, buckle up, time to roll.

0:25Mitch:You gave us too much time to sit here. Oh god.

0:41Also, joining us today is a special guest. Fred Durst. Thank you for joining us, Fred Durst. Yes, Fred Durst. Your mic works great. Thank you. Alright. Before we dig into this interview, though, uh let's talk. Let's do social media. Mitch, please.

0:57Mitch:You can go to entertainthis.app, which will take you to our Facebook group page, our X, our TikTok, our Instagram. If you want to find those separately, it's at entertainthus underscore, and on YouTube at entertain this59. But you can go to the what our website, our app, or whatever you want to call it, and it's got everything.

1:14Thank you, Fred. Fred supports our page. So, uh, Mr. Durst, uh, lots of questions about this movie. Mostly why? Well, yes, and on top of that, like the the reviews are polarizing. I mean, I think we can all say things like variety magazine definitely tore you apart, uh, especially with the autism claims and all this other stuff. You know, do you have any comments for that? He says she's gonna be a good thing. Oh, well, okay, alright, alright. We understand. Okay, thank you. But most importantly, you did land some pretty stellar casting. Uh what was his name? Uh the Saw the Sawa guy. He was the the dude that played uh the actor. Yeah.

2:00Mitch:Oh, Hunter Dunbar. Yeah. Hunter Dunbar is my friend.

2:05You know what he's famous for?

2:08Tom:A bunch of stuff from the late 90s and early 2000s, and he hasn't done anything.

2:11He was the Stan from the MM uh music video where he's yeah, he's the bleach kid.

2:18Tom:Oh man, he wrote that all the way to this movie.

2:21You got to play the other side of it, right? I thought that was interesting. Yeah. But uh, you know, my I guess my biggest question for Fred Durst is how did you land John Travolta? Did you write him a contract or was it like us on contract? Oh, okay, I understand. unknown: Yeah.

2:39Tom:Did he like wander by and you were like, hey, you want to do a movie? No. Uh oh, we'll give you dinner.

2:45Apparently, uh like he had sent so I guess Fred Durst had uh some stalkers in his life. And uh essentially like he had written the concept of a movie, uh, and it took him ten years to get the script together. And he had He should have taken another ten. He had sat down with uh John Travolta and like gave him the concept of the movie, and John Travolta had some stalkers in his life and was like, Yeah, let me see it when you're done.

3:17Tom:Those were probably women.

3:19Uh one was a woman, and another one was a guy that just showed up while he was like having a family dinner. John Travolta. Yeah, he was just sitting down at dinner, and some dude just sat down at the table with him.

3:28Mitch:Kissing him good night while he's sleeping. Yeah.

3:31Tom:Sleep tight, sweet prince.

3:34But uh the like the the gist of it was first off, I don't know if you know Fred Durst, but he's uh he's an aggressive individual, you know. He's just one of those days! Yeah. So he he more or less like especially Woodstock 99. Have you ever watched the documentary on that? I've not. So it was like a pattercag, super tight crowd of people. Um and then like they were like the mainstay for that uh the the that night that it all blew up. And like people were on the mic s telling Fred this crowd's getting out of control, we need to tone it, and like let these people get out before you know a riot breaks out.

4:17Mitch:That's when he decided to sing break stuff, right? Yes.

4:20He's like, I know what to do. So he ramped it up, he kicked it to eleven, and a lot of people were, I think some people were killed. And yeah. And you know, like the the press, the media kind of went after him a little bit in it, and he's like, It's not my fault. They were just, you know, passionate fans and stuff. I think he's kind of reeled a lot since then. And uh there's a famous uh interview, or I can't remember what did it. It might have been Rolling Stones, but somebody questioned him about like perpetuating bullying in high school, and it really caught him off guard because he said he was the kid getting bullied in high school, and that's why where all of his anger came from. And for him to like be like the theme songs for bullies today.

5:05Tom:All of his videos were bullies. Yeah, I know, some kind of tap out shirt, his first rule tap out to everybody you love tap out. Well, blasting limp biscuit. Right. He's going to Rutner. Yeah.

5:15Yeah. Yeah.

5:17Tom:And then you just grow up in a world of silly martial arts and you become Rex Quando.

5:22But you hit to 30. But more or less he uh like changed his kind of uh theme for Limp Biscuit after that. That's basically why they just disappeared in like the early 2000s. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

5:35Tom:So no, they just changed the name the firm biscuit.

5:37Yeah. Soggy biscuits. So he you know made this movie and he tried to do it from a standpoint where he portrays a stalker as like a he personifies them and makes them a meaningful person. And he said that when he deals with his stalkers, he he's a very uh gentle and compassionate individual. I'm like, this is not the Fred Thurst that I know.

6:01Mitch:Does he let him go after blowing some fingers off?

6:04That was so stupid.

6:05Mitch:I'm like, what like let's not give away the ending yet. I think it'll be okay.

6:11I just wondered if he thought he was gonna make a lot of money off of this. Like, what are you thinking, Fred? I did it all for the noogies! Oh, okay. That explains it. But you know, uh the the movie was kind of bananas, and you could tell, like apparently this was his Fred Durst's third movie that he had made. Yeah! And uh it's definitely the worst movie that he made. Yeah! But yeah. He made three?

6:34Mitch:What was his other one?

6:35Yeah, there was uh like one kid's movie, one family-friendly movie that he did, yeah. And uh I can't I can't remember that. It was Homeward Bound 6. But uh he you saw how many production companies were involved in the making of this movie.

6:48Mitch:Well, yeah, that's never a good sign, though. At least from what you've told me.

6:51When Redbox is your like corner street, so it's like go to a CVS near you, you go watch my movie, and you gotta buy it and you gotta take it home. You gotta return it. It was uh so there's a lot of money coming in, and I'm sure everybody kind of wanted their little, you know, like mentions or contractual obligations and stuff and how the movie probably was produced and which kind of made it stupid. I knew two things going into this movie before like the first bit of dialogue was played. I knew one, they were somehow gonna quote, never meet your heroes. And two, they were gonna play Limp Biscuit at some point. Yeah. And boy did they.

7:39Tom:Not once, all the shots of John Travolta's walking down a sidewalk, not once does a BG song play. Yeah.

7:47Yeah.

7:48Tom:Like it didn't even have to be staying alive. It could be anything.

7:51Well, funny enough, uh, this movie was not shot in Hollywood because they couldn't afford it. It was shot in Birmingham, Alabama. Ah, I believe it. Yeah.

8:00Mitch:So I can see that, yeah.

8:02Yeah, I think that's kind of, you know, where well A, I mean, I think it was like a$20 million budget, you know, and they didn't they definitely didn't make it back. They actually opened it in a couple of theaters and it made like less than$20,000.

8:14Tom:I think I think it made like three grand in change.

8:17So but uh it w it was a mess of a script. The story concept and all of it came from Fred Durst, and then like anything regarding Moose, the main character that John Travolta played, the stalker character, he uh more or less just let him. I I who's gonna tell John Travolta no, like the mullet and all that. I should have told him no about doing the movie. Well, he was on it, you know. Is he like hurting for money? So it's kind of a weird his son with special needs, John Travolta's son that died, died right before the production of this movie, and so he did this character, quote unquote, as an homage. Yeah. Yeah! So I just I was a little uh put off by that because he he's nobody was a good person in in this movie.

9:10Tom:No, they're all they're all terrible people.

9:12Mitch:Like the best person was like the girl that was his friend. But even she wasn't that great, yeah.

9:16Tom:Yeah, like she had to sneak into like that party at the beginning.

9:18Mitch:Yeah, and then she's like sneaking around taking photos of everyone.

9:21So the the gist of the movie is Moose plays this guy who's like uh mentally disabled, I guess is probably the best way to say it. Individual who wears like Hawaiian shirts. He basically looks like a middle-aged dad. He's got like Hawaiian shirts, khaki shorts, the high balances and the new balances, and he's just walking around with his goose.

9:40Tom:The only thing he needs to tuck in the Hawaiian shirt, and if he had on a fanny pack and he was pushing a lawnmower, nobody would have said I.

9:45Well, he had a backpack and he was pushing a scooter.

9:47Mitch:So without revealing everything, what I noticed at the end when he's laying on the ground was his new balances. Yeah, yeah.

9:55Tom:Hey, he's got new balances. He could see his feet from a mile away. Glowing in the dark. Those were pristine, out-of-the-box new balances.

10:02But the so like he is uh he's obsessed with this actor named uh Dunbar. Hunter Dunbar. Hunter Dunbar. Who's played by Jojo Siwa, or whatever that dude's name is. But um his last name is Sawa, S-A-W-A. It's all about the he says, she says, boom. Okay. There's a different button. Which one were you trying to go for? Samsonite. I forgot I took that off.

10:30Tom:Is the Bilbo Baggins button still available? Alright, good.

10:35Yeah. But uh uh so he he's good friends with a comic book store guy or something, some movie property. Yeah, whatever store, whatever store this is. Some sort of nerd store. And uh, you know, he they're comfortable enough to announce their bowel movements to each other when they walk inside.

10:54Mitch:I mean, but yeah, the first thing he says, I can't talk long, I gotta poo.

10:58Yeah. I mean, it sounds like you. Yeah. That's true.

11:01Mitch:Oh, let's come on now.

11:03Honestly, you're not much different. If John Travolta has hung out with you for a month, his his character would have been way.

11:09Mitch:I'm not gonna be I'm not gonna lie. His manners and stuff seem very familiar from things I see all the time. I was like, I I've seen that. I mean, yeah, it's it's recognizable.

11:20This movie resonated with me. I can't explain it. Hated?

11:23Mitch:Well, well, no, like I'll go to the comic book store and I'm like, yeah, that's that that's he's here.

11:28Yeah.

11:28Mitch:But uh I do find it funny that Travolta basically did the simple jack. Yeah, yeah, he did simple. You'd never go full.

11:36So, but uh anyways.

11:39Tom:Me and my wife are watching it, she's like, is he wearing like a prosthetic jaw? unknown: No. Because like the bottom half of his face, like he's almost turned into like that guy who's on like those 80s and 90s movies. I think jaw.

11:50I think Travolta's had some work done. Yeah, yeah. A little bit.

11:55Tom:So but he's like, I want to bite, be able to bite so hard I might crack my upper palate.

12:02Anyway, so he gets this like uh jacket that's a collectible from uh the this hunter guy that he likes so much.

12:09Mitch:From Space Vampires Rico.

12:11Right. And that's the thing about movies that reference, you know, in universe movies that have no reference in our world. They just they sound so stupid. Space Vampires.

12:22Tom:There's probably a movie called Space Vampire.

12:24There's probably five movies called Space Vampires. But like, I mean, what you got John Travolta, why don't you have like a John Travolta actual character? Why don't you have him play himself? Yeah. And then the dude, like, is obsessed with uh the kit the character is obsessed with like meeting John Travolta and doing his movies and stuff like that. I think that would have come off better and a little bit more tangible.

12:45Mitch:Or even if you want to take one of these lower class movies and just take the actor from that movie and put him in this movie. At least it's then it's a tangible movie that you can, you know, say, oh yeah, that is an actor.

12:54Well, he gets to meet his idol and the the the comic book dude that runs the shop, like puts him in the line, gets him set up, and then announces to the guy that he's gotta go because his wife's there right before the dude can sign John Travolta's character.

13:10Tom:Like he it looks like he was waiting. Yeah. It's like, alright, he's about to come. Alright, he's up. Hey man, like there's somebody that signed us. He's like, he's like, yeah.

13:17Mitch:Well, that guy's standing in line and he's just like daydreaming that this guy's got the light shining down on him, just waiting for this signature.

13:24Well, I I get the fantasy, like the fantasizing, and then showing the audience what this dude's fantasizing about. Like, that's fine.

13:31Mitch:Well, and because of his mental health problems, he's thinking, like, this is about to be a personal relationship between him and this guy.

13:36Right. Yeah. Like, we're gonna hang out. unknown: Yeah. But anyway, so he goes and like finds the guy behind the store and accosts him, if you will, about signing the stupid jacket that he got. And the dude, this is a moment for the guy to be reasonable and say, okay, and sign it, and then leave. Yeah. Instead, he just like pushes him around and says, you know, you're s he calls him names and a bunch of stuff in front of his wife and kids.

14:02Mitch:And what gets me is like, you know, like this guy, you should be able to tell this guy's not all there, and you you're just like pushing him around. It's like, have a little bit of you know, decency.

14:11Look at his haircut.

14:12Mitch:But um and the way he shuffles as he walks.

14:15So you you you now you're kind of like well, part of you is like, oh, the special needs guy's getting bullied around, but then like you see like his thought process, and you know, then his friend, his little friend, there's a girl that is like paparazzi, shows him how to get access to his house. Why would you do this? It's like you were playing with fire.

14:36Mitch:You you see this man, don't give me an idea of this guy.

14:39And she's like, now don't do it, but here's the matches.

14:42Tom:But here's the matches, here's a lighter, here's some lighter fluid. I'm gonna turn my back.

14:48Mitch:Whatever happens, happens. I better not smell smoke. What would have been better is if she was taking a picture as at the end of the movie when the gods got the gun. Yeah. That is a picture for like entertainment weekly or something.

15:00Tom:You'd be all over.

15:01But so the the dude goes to his house, the maid catches him, uh, a couple of stuff happens between them.

15:10Tom:Chews him away.

15:11Yeah, but we don't need we'll just jump to the part where he kills the frickin' maid and leaves her on the Nobody found her exactly for like three days.

15:19Mitch:Well, that's what I was wondering.

15:20Tom:Until like it reveals later, I was like, What nobody just because like after 10 minutes, like my me and my wife are sitting there and she's like, has anyone found the maid? Is like is she just dead back there?

15:31Mitch:Well, like, you know, if he's got all this security and he's got cameras, he mentioned them. Nobody's seeing they're just laying in the floor in the in the garden.

15:39Yeah, Fred Durst, what were you thinking? Just one of those Okay. unknown: Yeah. But so everybody steps over her body and he pretends she doesn't exist for like three days.

15:49Tom:Yeah, the groundskeeper guy, he's just like what, mowing around her?

15:53It's it's like drizzling, and he says, I need to go home. And like that's the nicest that the hunter guy has been the entire movie. He's like, Yeah, man, go home. Yeah. But uh uh, so when he comes back, he comes well, we'll we'll we'll cut to that later. So uh the the short of it is the Travolta's character, uh Moose, he becomes more obsessed into getting to know the Hunter character, breaks into his house.

16:15Mitch:Well, then he gets a little more violent because of the street magician guy hasn't you know done a Robin's sideshow thing.

16:21Tom:He's like dressing up as a constable.

16:23So he makes his money, I guess, by being a uh street performer. Uh well, it's more like a caricature of like telling people how to get to like I don't know, the Hollywood Boulevard.

16:32Mitch:And really why Tom won't hang out with us, that's what he does down in Atlanta. Yeah. With his English accents.

16:38I don't do that. Well, I I will say that your English accent is a lot better than John Travelton. Thank you. Thank you. But uh it's not you, mate. These dudes beat him up, and some security guards, like, hey man, you need to go. Well, you're taking that crap from those fools. Yeah, so he like chokes one of them. And he's like, Am I in trouble? And security guards are like, nah, man, I'm proud of you. He's like, Really? Nah, we go kill people.

17:00Mitch:They have like the little street magician guy's eyes were popping out, and he's like, he's like, Yeah, you better run.

17:05Tom:I know, it's just like, dude, you can't like shut up. So got beat up by that guy.

17:11So he's all like uh, you know, fueled from that rage from those altercations, decides to go back to the guy's house, and uh he he breaks in, the dude's like passed out on his lazy boy, and he's like taking pictures, kissing him on the head, and stuff like that.

17:25Tom:Well he's like going through his fridge, he like he uses his bathroom, uses his toothbrush, uses his toothbrush, he's like smelling stuff, and he's like he was like scrubbing his tongue with the guy's toothbrush. And he's like, or he like sees like his like medicine stuff or like whatever pills, and he's just like, oh, you shouldn't do drugs, hunter dumbar.

17:42Mitch:And then he's under the kid's bed.

17:43Tom:I know, and I'm like, oh my god. Like I was watching it, and I'm like, I have to check the house afterwards. I was like, I just need to sweep the whole house.

17:51Mitch:Uh like how like when he's laying there, he's getting ready to take a picture and drops the phone on the guy. The guy startled like half awake. He walked out of the room, comes back, picks the phone up, takes the package.

18:00Tom:Yeah, he's like and puts a blanket on him. He's like, Good night, sweet prince.

18:05So the dude wakes up inevitably tied to his bed, and the guy comes out, Moose comes out, and uh he's wearing like a Michael Myers mask. Oh, no, the Jason. Yeah, he comes in as Jason. Yeah. And he stabs him with a prop knife that somehow cuts him.

18:21Mitch:It probably had like a little sharp corner or something like that.

18:23Whatever. It's just it scratches him. He's like, oh no, I'm sorry.

18:27Mitch:Could you imagine being tied up and thinking you're about to be stabbed?

18:31Tom:His reaction to waking up was probably the best acting in that hole.

18:36Mitch:Because he's like looking around, he's like, he starts with me, he's like, what the realize he was actually drugged and just tied up to leave me lost there.

18:43I listened to an interview from the s the Jojo Siwa guy, and uh he said that like when they tied him up where he could not get out of those restraints, and then John Travolta would be like, because he's apparently a method actor. Oh yeah great. So he's like so locked into this character that he uh just comes out with the Jason mask on and he's just like okay. He's like a little overwhelmed by it. He's like, Dad, I wasn't acting. That was be like, okay.

19:13Tom:I want to go home. Um he like pours the gasoline on him. Well, water. He's like, it's water.

19:20It was water, then they said it smells like gasoline. I I don't know, they were all over the place with it. Um and uh but like he the they the Jojo Siwag Hunter, he uh has like a shared fantasy with Moose about them being the best friends. Also stupid too. Yeah. And so he's like, okay, I'll I'll let you go now.

19:42Mitch:And then he beats the crap out of him, grabs the gun, shoots his hand off, stabs him in the eye, and the guy's just like crying on the ground, like how he says it's like sawed-off shotgun tucked on top of a mare's leg. I mean, it's just like tucked at the headboard of his bed. He had a lever action.

19:57Yeah, which is cool. I've never seen a lever action shotgun.

20:01Tom:Yeah, yeah, they haven't. unknown: Where? Well, you could probably find it at a gun store.

20:06That'd be fun to shoot. unknown: Yeah.

20:08Tom:The model 1886 Winchesters.

20:09Yeah, wouldn't it? Wouldn't it, Fred? Yeah, I thought so too.

20:13Tom:But so it kills me. Why is he shot him in the hand? It's just like shoot him in the face.

20:18Well, I I I I think because like when he's sobbing and crying and all this other stuff. Well, he did try to shoot him at one point, but he ran out of ammo.

20:26Mitch:Well, yeah, because like he shoots both like next to both sides of his head and like deafen him.

20:30Yeah. And uh he's crying like a little kid, you know.

20:33Mitch:After he stabbed him in the eye.

20:36He feels bad. At this point, it's a little late. And then he like bandages his hand and sends him out the door. And then uh the copyright run on run on home, you little scamp. And then the cops show up. Those cops were like, no questions asked, this guy did it.

20:53Tom:But I mean, like, you're gonna search the house and be like, whose fingers did they?

20:57Clearly, it's the maids. It's like, why is there all like what happened here?

21:00Mitch:Well, then we look at her. None of the blood on him is gonna match her. Yeah, she's like three days comp decomposed in the backyard.

21:08So yeah, it was dumb. It was uh it was a mess of a plot. And honestly, like what the theme was was a mess too. If we're supposed to feel for mentally disabled people and like how that's not the way to go. Well, I thought, like, okay, this is how a mentally disturbed person becomes a threat to society. Okay. But they they made him do nefarious stuff. Like everybody said, Don't go to this guy's house and still didn't multiple times I told him. So he's not he's not listening to direction. Instead, if they were to kind of show us more from his point of view of why he felt compelled to go to this guy's house and just instead of showing him jumping fences and stuff, I I think it would have it would have spun a little bit better.

21:51Yeah. Do you think that do you think that Fred? I think I think so too.

21:55Tom:Like as a premise, it's a good premise for a you know. Psych psychological thriller with a little sprinkling of horror if you want to do it.

22:05Yeah.

22:06Tom:And then you have what he did.

22:09Not good. Yeah. Not good. Well, I mean, I think they had delusions of grandeur, and in the end, I'm pretty sure they all I did it all for the nookie.

22:20Tom:So well, even like those stupid like little vignettes with like the chalk drawings. I'm just like, okay, why what that's a thing.

22:27Those were made by the uh the lead guitars for Olymp Biscuit. Of course they were. Yeah.

22:31Tom:Yeah. The part where And then the narration.

22:35Mitch:By the girl, yeah.

22:36Tom:I don't need the narrative. Like you can narrate the opening.

22:38They say don't don't meet your heroes. Well, I guess that's true here. Okay, thank you.

22:42Tom:Well, and then that nondescript cop led him away.

22:46Mitch:Well, I like how at the end that he she's talking about, like, yeah, he embraced it, you know, like missing fingers and an eye and stuff. What do you mean embraced it? He's missing a hand.

22:56Tom:And then they show him and he's got like a hook and like an eye patch. It's like now he thinks he's a pirate. Now he's Steve the pirate from Dodgeball.

23:03Mitch:Well, like he's wandering down the street and like these people are like, oh, we love your costume. And he starts smiling. It's like, no, even if he's mentally disabled, he's not gonna be smiling at this point. He's gonna be in pain.

23:14Could you imagine being a like washed-out rock star? And then you make a movie, and then you make the one of the main actors listen to one of your songs and talk about how great your music is, you know, like to it to uh some kid or whatever, like he did in the movie. I was like, golly, the pretentiousness of this dude. He's just like checking.

23:38Tom:It's like who is like who do you think you are? Troy Duffy?

23:40Yeah, yeah, right? So it was it was all over the place, and you know, Travolta's kind of swung and missed for the past ten years. Decade. I'm gonna say decade. A lot. What's the last good Travolta movie you've seen? Wild Hogs.

23:56Mitch:I liked that, and then there was one called Be Cool that had uh Vince Fawn and The Rock in it, where he's like a music director or music you know producer or something like that.

24:04I think the last like truly enamored John Travolta movie I I've enjoyed was uh the Thomas Chain Punisher.

24:13Mitch:So he was in that, and then probably the the Swordfish movie was his last like big movie.

24:18Tom:Yeah. I mean, we can all say face off. Yeah. Great, great film.

24:26Uh well, Fred Durst, it was great talking to you. I'm sure you have to get rolling. Ha ha ha ha. There's no button.

24:37Mitch:Wrong door, wrong door.

24:43There you go. We did a movie. It got punished.

24:46Mitch:Thank you for that. Yeah. Was it three movies that you had to pick before you finally got one that we could watch?

24:52Well, so we wanted to do tiptoes, but you can't apparently that movie's trying to be like deleted by Hollywood. You know, we're gonna get it one day.

25:00Tom:He chose a movie that had not come out yet.

25:02Velocipastor 2 comes out in October.

25:04Tom:Go hop into DeLorean.

25:06That movie's been coming out since like you watched the first one.

25:09Tom:Yeah, yeah. So it's but I would watch Velocipastor 2.

25:14I know. That's part of the story.

25:17Tom:Part of me was like hanging on that, and I was like, I don't know if I Yeah, because Velocipaster 2 is just some guy running in someone's backyard, like that's slightly heavily wooded with a puppet like on the right side of the camera frame going.

25:31Tom's gonna like this movie too much. So uh alright, give me your honest takes. The w what would you rate it at the worst movies you've seen so far being a one? And then like the best movie.

25:45Mitch:Sadly, you know, knowing the things we have seen, I'll give this a five.

25:48Okay.

25:50Mitch:I'll say that a four. It's it's not mediocre. I'll give it below mediocre mediocre. So I'll give it a four.

25:58I'll give it a three. Really? You're always like way too critical. You've seen a lot of bad movies, and you always I mean it's not a one, I'll give you that much.

26:06Tom:There was I didn't get anything redeeming out of it. I didn't chuckle, there wasn't anything like I chuckled. Like, I mean, there's a there's a certain sweetness to really bad movies.

26:16Mitch:To me, it was so bad that it was it was funny.

26:18Tom:This was not bad enough to be funny, it was just bad. It was pretty bad. It's like plan nine from outer space.

26:24Mitch:I just I just thought it was funny watching uh John Travolta be way too good at this role.

26:28Yeah. I I I'd I'd say three or four is is appropriate.

26:32Mitch:Oh yeah, we'll put 3.5 and then we'll average it out later.

26:35There you go. Alright, here's 20 John Travolta trivia questions. Great. But I definitely did not just have something right for me. Question number one. Mitch, what television sitcom gave John Travolta his big break playing the sweet hog character Vinnie Barbarino?

26:57Tom:Happy days.

26:58No, Tom.

26:59Tom:Welcome back, Connor.

27:00You got it. Never heard of it. Alright, Tom. Before starring as Danny Zuko or Zucco in the 1978 movie version of Greece, what role did Travolta play in a touring stage production? Grease, I'm guessing. Um who do you play, Kanicki?

27:19Mitch:Nope. I don't know any other actors.

27:24Duty. Oh, he played Duty? Yep. So one of the T-Bird's pink ladies crowd.

27:30Tom:Have you seen Grease Mitch?

27:31Yeah.

27:32Mitch:I just don't know any of the characters other than like the main two.

27:35Mitch! Travolta's older sister, Ellen Travolta, is also an actress. What famous 1980s TV sitcom saw her play the mother of Scott Bai Bayo Bio's character.

27:50Mitch:Uh the spinoff of Happy Days. I can't remember the name of it.

27:56Okay, I'll give it to you. It's uh Joni loves Chachi. That's what I was saying.

27:59Tom:Because that was my punishment years ago. Because I all I can hear is uh what's his face from Dodgeball. Joni loves Chachi.

28:07I was sick of that too.

28:08Mitch:That was my punishment, like year one of the podcast.

28:11Wow. Tom, how many months did Travolta spend training intensely in disco dancing to prepare for his iconic role as Tony Monero in Saturday Night Fever?

28:22Tom:How many months?

28:23How many months?

28:24Tom:Ten.

28:24No, but close. Seven. No. Eleven. No. Eight. No.

28:28Tom:Nine. Yeah. How long would you go up to twelve? That would be uh year.

28:34Mitch, Quentin Tarantino famously revitalized Travolta's career by casting him as Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction, which actor Tarantino initially chose chose to play that character before Travolta landed the park. Who was it?

28:47Mitch:Nicholas Cage. unknown: No.

28:50Tom:Is this person also in Pulp Fiction?

28:53I don't think so. He I'll I'll tell I'll say this. He's he plays a famous character in uh a Quentin Tarantino movie who is actually referenced in The Fanatic.

29:06Mitch:Okay. Well then I'll let Tom guess the move. I have no guess.

29:09Tom:Is it Michael Madsen?

29:10Yes. Good job, Tom. What does he say when he comes out with like the gasoline? You know?

29:18Tom:Oh, he starts saying uh Mr.

29:20Blonde, Mr. Blonde.

29:21Tom:Mr. Blonde, he starts saying stuck in the middle with you.

29:25Uh alright, uh, we're back to Tom. Yes. Travolta starred opposite Nicolas Cage in this 1997 action film, FaceOff. Who directed this sci-fi classic? unknown: I don't remember. I don't know. We used to have a button that kind of sounded like it. Woo! Yeah. unknown: Woo! John Woo! There you go, man.

29:56Tom:I was like, there's a hint there somewhere.

29:59Mitch, Travolta played mob boss John Gotti in the 2018 Biopic Gotti. What rare, infamous, critical milestone did the movie achieve on Rotten Tomatoes?

30:13Mitch:Lowest score ever?

30:15Give me more information than that. It's an achievement.

30:20Mitch:Fastest to lowest score ever. I don't know.

30:22Zero. Yes, Tom.

30:24Mitch:Oh. There's not been other stuff that's been zero? Or that was the first one.

30:29It's a rare achievement.

30:30Mitch:It's rare.

30:30Gotcha. Tom, this 1995 Crime Cromedy. Crime Comedy. Cromedy! Cromedy, if you will.

30:39Tom:This Calm Criminity.

30:40Saw Travolta play mobster turn movie producer Chili Palmer. 1995. Crime Cromedy.

30:49Tom:Uh Get Shorty.

30:50Yes, Tom.

30:52Tom:I thought I said get Carter, and I was like, no, it's get somebody else.

30:55Mitch for his role as Edna Turnbullblod in the 2007 musical Hairspray. How many hours did Travolta reportedly spend in a makeup chair each day to apply prosthetics in a fat suit? Seven. No. Six. No. Five. No. Eleven. No. Eight. No. Twelve. No. Nine. No. Fourteen. No. Ten. No. I'll give you a hint. It's less than five. Three! Two.

31:24Tom:One. Four. Yes! You guys are all over the place. The old shotgun method. Shout till you get it right.

31:33Uh, what are we back to? Tom here. Yes. Travolta turned down the lead role in three classic movies that ended up going to Tom Hanks. Can you name two of them?

31:43Tom:What would they have both been nominated for?

31:45They're somewhere between 1984 and 1999, these movies.

31:50Tom:Uh, okay. I'm gonna guess big?

31:54No.

31:55Mitch:That was gonna be one of my guesses. Force comes.

31:58Yes, Mitch. Wow. Can you give me another one? I'll give you a one point for that because you're losing right now.

32:04Mitch:Uh, let's see. What was another one? You said between what years?

32:081984 and 1999.

32:11Mitch:Um Saving Preverine. unknown: No.

32:14Imagine Joshua Balso. Well, that's why he got turned down. Bangalores! Guys!

32:20Tom:Your brothers are dead. Uh the Burbs.

32:23Uh, it's back to Tom and Allen.

32:25Tom:Okay. Um. Castaway? No. The Burbs?

32:30No.

32:32Tom:Apollo 13. No.

32:33Mitch:Was Castaway during before 2000?

32:36Tom:I think it was like 1998. Okay. Or 99.

32:39Mitch:I'm trying to think of Tom Hanks movies. Um, I'm gonna wait. Toy Story. No. I was about to say that.

32:45Uh they're all live action.

32:47Mitch:Oh. unknown: Alright. Another guess?

32:50Go ahead.

32:51Mitch:Splash.

32:51Yes, Mitch.

32:52Mitch:Wow. I had to think of that one. I was like, that's that's about the time John Travolta was good. Joe versus the volcano.

32:57No, it was the Green Mile. Oh, really? That would have been terrible. That would have been awful.

33:02Tom:Alright, who did uh who whose is it? Uh it's Mitch's turn. All right.

33:07Okay. Mitch, which classic 1980 film role, eventually played by Richard Geere, did Travolta pass on, along with An Officer and a Gentleman, and Chicago? Apparently Travolta passed in a lot of movies that could have made his career. I don't know.

33:25Tom:Read the question one more time.

33:27Which 1980 film role, eventually played by Richard Gere, did he pass on? Alright. So this dude was also in An Officer and a Gentleman and Chicago.

33:42Mitch:It would help if I knew had seen either one of those or knew who Richard Gere was.

33:45There's no wrestling or shirtless men.

33:48Tom:Well, Richard Gere's in both of those movies.

33:50Mitch:Well, I yes, but I don't know who Richard Gere is without seeing the face.

33:53He's like a classy kind of, you know. Oh well that wouldn't seem that um So yeah, like again. Is it a Scorsese movie? I don't think so. No. It's not Kings of Flatbush, is it? It's American Gigolo. Oh. Uh Tom, Travolta is certified private pilot. But what unique feature does his residential home in in Ocala, Florida, Jumbolaire Aviation Estates, feature right outside his back door. A runway? Two private functional airplanes.

34:24Tom:Well, that was kind of a giveaway. Everybody knows he's a pilot because he flew in um look who's talking.

34:31Okay. Uh Mitch, what name did Travolta originally want to give his daughter before his late wife, Kelly Preston, vetoed it? I have no idea. Okay, this is a weird one.

34:42Tom:Chlamydia.

34:43Oh, says Contus, after the Australian airline for which he was an ambassador.

34:48Tom:Sure. Alright. Should have gone with Chlamydia.

34:50Uh Tom, in 1985, Travolta made international headlines when his hit dance floor, when he hit the dance floor at a White House gala, which member of the British with which member of the British Royal Party? 1985.

35:05Tom:Yeah, I'll just go for the Queen Elizabeth. No.

35:08Princess Diana. Yes, Mitch.

35:10Tom:In my head, I'm like, it's gotta be die. It's the only one I could think of. I was like, it'd be cool if Elizabeth did it.

35:14She later named the midnight blue dress she wore the Travolta Desk.

35:19Tom:Good for her. Good for Diana.

35:22Uh, what are we back to? Mitch, what is the literal Italian translation of Travolta's surname?

35:32Mitch:Travel Travolta.

35:34No, no.

35:35Tom:Is it something to do with electricity?

35:37Yes.

35:38Tom:Is it three electricities?

35:40No. For tra high voltage or to be overwhelmed overturned. Alright.

35:50Tom:Underwhelmed.

35:51We're almost through this, guys. Thank God. At the 2014 Academy of Wars, Travolta created a viral internet moment when he completely butchered which Broadway singer's actress's name while introducing her performance of Let It Go. Remember, he was like the eloquent Idela Mz. Whose turn is it? Uh it's back to Mitch, I think.

36:16Tom:I think it is Mitch's turn.

36:17Mitch:Is it like Molina?

36:19No, you sound like John Travolta, right?

36:20Mitch:Okay. Well, I don't I don't know the name. Yeah, I don't know who's saying that.

36:23Adina Mazel.

36:24Mitch:Adina, yeah. Sure. unknown: Alright. I knew it ended in Ina. Sam tonight. Same thing.

36:32Tom, which rap artist persuaded John Travolta to finally shave off his hair and embrace the bald look in 2019?

36:39Tom:Uh MM.

36:42Well, I would give you a hint. This rap artist is probably bald.

36:46Mitch:Lip biscuit.

36:50Fred, Fred, we're just out here, Fred.

36:53Mitch:Uh, let's see.

36:54Would it be It's a guy who says his name a lot.

37:00Tom:There's a lot of him to say their name. DJ Collin guy? No.

37:03He's not a rap artist.

37:05Tom:I don't know what I don't know what he does. Yeah, I know who's DMX.

37:08Mitch:No. I know he's bald. It's Pitbull. Oh, okay.

37:11Okay. Mitch or John or Tom. I don't know. John! One of you guys. Travolta made his authorial debut in the 1997 illustrated novella about a young boy's love for flying. Okay, this is dumb. You're not. Propeller one-way night coach was the answer to that. Oh, thanks. That was my next guest. Number 19, Tom, in 1989, hit comedy, Look Who's Talking. Travolta plays taxi driver James Ubriaco. Who voiced the talking baby?

37:44Tom:Bruce Willis. Yes.

37:47Mitch! For five points. In the 2019 Fred Durst directed Thriller The Fanatic. What distinct physical hairstyle did Travolta wear to play the obsessed stalker moose?

38:02Tom:A mullet.

38:03You got it.

38:03Tom:It was a toupee.

38:04Good job, Mitch. You have won. Tom must pick the punishments. While he's thinking about it. You gotta get the wheel out and spend all that stuff, don't you? Yeah. Yeah.

38:15Mitch:Yeah, boy. I don't know. Is that him? So what was the punishment? I don't know. We have to have an established punishment before the wheel. So there's no bias in case it lands on all three of us that you, you know.

38:26Tom:I was not prepared with a film already.

38:29This has never happened before. In the history of this podcast, Tom has never came unprepared.

38:36Mitch:I had six, just in case Tom did trivia. I had stuff that I could punish Hayden with, or I have stuff that I could punish Tom with.

38:42Wait, I'm crazy. Tom is always unprepared. If you're this is your first time listening, just know that Tom does nothing. And if our mom about the he says, she says, Yes, and if our our podcast was worth money, Tom would own one percent. He wouldn't even write his own contract. He's so lazy when it comes to that stuff. Yeah, sticky note.

39:07Tom:Give me money. I'll have a cheeseburger. Uh let's see. IMDB is the worst of 2026. Uh Citizen Vigilante. Alright, cool.

39:19We'll watch it.

39:22Mitch:Or will more than one of us watch it?

39:25The wheel is spinning. Come on.

39:28Tom:Hayden. Hey, Darton. Mitch, get the hot sauce too. Plus four.

39:36This is gonna be like the streak where I get punished for months and months, right? Taking the abuse. Well, text it to me because I uh already forgot what it's called.

39:47Tom:Citizen Vigilante.

39:49Alright.

39:52Tom:Mitch, can you stop breaking? We're recording a podcast.

39:56Apparently he break breaks some stuff. Apparently he he uh put the hot sauce in a bag. It's in a bag under a sword. Whose hot sauce is this? unknown: I don't know. The Mad Dog 357. The sauce will blow you away. It'll blow something, that's for sure. I'm gonna die.

40:17Tom:Yeah, if your wiener just suddenly shoots off in a hail of fireworks and confetti, we'll know it's good stuff. Alright, is that a good amount? That's a very, very generous amount.

40:26Alright. Ready? Oh, by the way, apparently I said a bad word on the last episode.

40:32Tom:Yeah. That I called you out on, and you were like, nah.

40:34I have no memory of it, and I apologize.

40:37Mitch:Our transcript said otherwise though.

40:40Darn new technology.

40:52Tom:There you go. Chase it with pink red bull. That'll enhance the flavor. For anybody curious at home, I'm gonna read off the ingredients. Uh let's see. Hellfire. Satan's toenail clippings. Vinegar, chili extract, evaporated cane juiced, habanero peppers, garlic, onion, 16, or sorry, 160,000. Turn red Scoville cayenne peppers, spices, and xanthyl. It's the cayenne that really sticks off.

41:21Mitch:I'll tell you when I when I found this hot sauce, I looked it up on AI and I said, what's the most fast-acting, hottest hot sauce Amazon spills?

41:28That was it.

41:30Tom:Just as warning, this sauce is very hot.

41:33I feel like I'm the victim. Big time here.

41:37Tom:There's like a disclaimer.

41:39Because how many times has Tom gotten away with it? You know? And uh He just goes, no, not that. I have to do this crappy movie review for the next episode.

41:53Mitch:Oh, this is why we need the video.

41:56Tom:It's always a fun time here on the Entertainments podcast.

41:58Well, you guys talk for a minute. I'm gonna cry. Go ahead.

42:06Mitch:Uh oh, Tom. So what have you watched other than our fanatic movie? I've been watching a lot of scandal. We've been having to watch that. Yeah, we talked about last time. Anything else?

42:15Tom:Uh yeah, I uh saw Steel Magnolius for the very first time. How was that? In honor of Dolly Parton.

42:21And he cried. I did. I totally did.

42:26Tom:What a loser. You're crying now. Well, you'd die over there in your recliner. Die quieter.

42:37I'm just muted. I'm just really sad about John Travolta's career path.

42:42Tom:If that was the case, you'd have been crying in like since 1998. Anyway, Steel Magnolias. Yes, Steel Magnolias. Never saw the movie. My wife put it on, and then we uh it was just us and our daughter, or someone who was staying with the grandparents that night. And I was just sitting there watching it, and I'm like, oh, this is like alright, all right, southern women. Alright, they all go to this hairdresser, it's Dolly Parton. Alright, oh, that's really young Julia Roberts. Sally Field still looked the same, as she always has. And then you got uh, what's his face? Uh Tom Scarrot. Good job, you wandering around, shooting at birds. Like his antics at getting rid of the birds in the tree at his

43:28Tom:house gets progressively more aggressive.

43:31Did he do the kill a mocking bird thing? I don't know.

43:33Tom:He was he brought out a 357. He had a cult python, and he's just blasting at this tree, and then later he has like a bunch of fireworks and cherry bombs and M80s on a crossbow that his son's light and he launches into the tree and explodes. And basically it's just a bunch of southern women and they're you know, henpecking it at some of them and each other, and then Julie Roberts has a kid, but she's like a really severe diabetic, and then it's just like, oh, you know, her arms all mess. Stuff and like, oh my god, what happened? And she's like, it's um dialysis. And then it turns out she's gonna die, and then she goes into a coma, and then she's brain dead, and then all the old ladies, you know, the southern la lasses are getting together

44:12Tom:and you know, talking and saying nice things, and then suddenly my face was wet. And you know, it's it's uh I gotta stop spilling beer on my cell phone. What is it?

44:21What is the movie that you can't watch around other people? It'll just get you. Okay, mine's a big fish. You never seen big fish, I love that movie. But I will not watch it around my kids. My kids have never seen me cry, and it's gonna stay that way. I mean I'm sure there has been one, but there's a couple of them out there that that really get me. But that's that's the one that last time I watched it, I was like, ah, I can never watch this movie again.

44:55Mitch:Oh, I I did watch this one, um I can't remember the name of it though, but it was uh Jennifer uh Jennifer Anderson. Um what's the one that was married to Ben Affleck?

45:05Tom:Jennifer Garner.

45:06Mitch:Jennifer Garner. It was about it was some kind of like uh movie where she had these kids and one went into a coma after she fell out of a tree, and that kind of made me feel sad, you know, because I I just had my daughter at the time and it's kind of kind of hit me hit me in the heart streak.

45:19Tom:Because then they're doing like the whole like, you know, you know, cats in the cradle and the silver spoon thing going on with like all these kids and like their dads and their moms like running around, and I'm like, and I got you know my two kids and I run you know around chasing my son, and I'm just like feelings. And then I look, my wife is just like sobbing and like holding the baby, and I'm just like, we're never watching this movie again. I was like, don't ever put this on.

45:42I'll I'll watch a movie and I'll like everything makes my wife cry. I'll watch a movie and I'll be like, This would be a great movie for the family, and then something will happen and be like, nope, my wife could make it. I'll have to pause the movie and like let her collect herself. That's how bad she gets sometimes.

45:57Tom:She like goes in the bathroom, turns on the fan, and but you can still hear yeah.

46:01Mitch:Well, so I'll watch a great movie and then it'll have a sad ending. I'm like, well, I just wasted my time because she's not gonna want to watch that. Yeah, she'll be mad at me for making her watch a sad ending.

46:09Yeah, yeah. I uh oh, we watched like Littlefoot. Uh, what is that? Lame Before Time with the kids a long time ago. And uh, you know, I'm I I I'm hell holding it together. I've been traumatized enough by this movie. But my wife is dying. My kids are just looking at us like, what's what's wrong with you? I'm like, what's wrong with you? Why do you feel nothing? You sociopeds.

46:32Mitch:Yeah, yeah.

46:33Tom:My wife told me because it gets even more sad when you think about it that uh was it Ducky? Yeah, yeah, that she died because her dad killed her. What? What? Yeah, the act the little oh the actress. Like she was only thinking she was like 10. Yeah. Like so you think about that, and then you know, the sadness with Littlefoot and like his grandparents or whatever that is. Yeah, and then you're just like sitting there like punching yourself in the thigh.

46:56Yeah.

46:56Mitch:The first movie that I accidentally accidentally made my daughter cry was watching Old Yeller. I'm like, oh, it's a good movie. Yeah, it's like it's a timeless classic. Like, what's next, Bambi? But now that I think about it, there is one movie that even just like watching the scene of it makes me cry or tear up a little bit, is uh All Dogs Go to Heaven, knowing the backstory behind it now.

47:19That's so sad. We watched uh Ironclaw uh when I was on deployment. Ironclaw. Yeah, that wrestler movie.

47:24Mitch:Oh, that yep, that's one. I just thought about it.

47:26I didn't realize that that's yeah, that you thought you were just like there's a bunch of like old salty dudes in a room, and that just came out to where we could watch it. And we put it on a a big screen and we were all off work at night. All of us are like in our dressed-down uniforms and just relaxing. And this dude's like, hey, all right, this movie's really good, so we're gonna watch it. We all like kind of playing on our phones, we're playing games, and then like gradually everybody gravitates to the screen and we're all sitting around. And then that scene happens, right? The one that you know, the the the dock scene.

48:00Mitch:Well, yeah, there's that, but to me it gets sadder after that scene.

48:04Yeah, well the part where he's on the yard, yeah.

48:06Mitch:Yeah, he's holding his boys, yeah.

48:08Yeah. So like by by the time that that scene comes around, the movie's over, you know, like it fades to black and it gets quiet, and you just see a lot of like dudes like like I need to call my brother. unknown: Yeah. Just like all the true emotions came out. Yeah. It's like who's who's chopping on his bed there, man?

48:27Mitch:Well, what makes it worse is that's that's a true story.

48:30Tom:Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I still tear up watching Lord of the Rings. Yeah.

48:34Mitch:When that orc died.

48:36Tom:No, I tear up every time Thaiden gives like the death chant speech and then charges, and I'm just like, it's beautiful.

48:44I watched uh The Sixth Sense recently. And I the last time I watched it, I didn't have kids. And I watched it, you know, last week or so. And to like see it from like the mother standpoint where she's like trying to figure out what's wrong with her kid and all this other stuff, it unlocked a whole new basket of feelings for me. Just like grab your son and we're just like, you see type people. Yeah, I was like, oh my gosh. It was a it was a different watch. So or even the end of the green mile.

49:12Tom:Oh yeah.

49:13Tired boss. With John Travolta's like, you don't have to die.

49:20Tom:Yeah, that would have just made that taking the wind right out of those sails. That boat just would have sank where it was. Yeah.

49:28Yeah.

49:28Tom:But yeah, Steel Magnolia's a good movie. It's it's a one-time watch to me.

49:33How many Dolly Parton songs were played in that movie? I have no idea. All of them. Dolly Parton's like play a record, like you all should listen to this. This person's really good.

49:42Tom:Well, all their husbands had like stupid names. Like her husband's name in the movie was Spud. And then the other one's name was Duck.

49:49Mitch:Well, they're old Country Hill people names.

49:52Tom:Yeah. They're all related too. Just good old Southern folk.

49:57Mitch:Well, I played a game. I played a game called Dawn of the Bloodwalker. Let's change this soft, goosy stuff out of the way here. Now, in this game. Football! I watched Monday Night Football. In this game, you're uh you're uh a guide during the day and you're a vampire at night, kinda like Blade. But uh kind of like what you wish you were in real life. Yeah.

50:17No, but Mitch by day, vampire Mitch by night.

50:20Mitch:I I'm like 33% of the way through the game. I've only played five or I've played five hours, and I've just gotten outside of the first village that you that you grew up in. Well, the whole thing is like in the trailer it seems like these vampires come in and basically take over this town. It's an isolated inside like this mountainous range. So they've taken over the town, and once a month, they like you have to come to communion at the church and give blood, or they will kill you. And then they cull any of the weak people. So, like the whole first hour or two of the game, you're playing stories that leads up to this, they kill they end up killing your mom, and then you know your dad gets mad, he wants to start

50:58Mitch:a rebellion, they decide to take you to the mines to help dig out some silver out from the mountain, and the vampires find out, and they uh they go to kill you. Well, they go to kill everyone, and then they like they turn you. And at the very beginning of the game, you come out, and like this is like the first interaction where all your choices can alter how the game ends. Well, as you come out, you realize that you're being changed and you're turning into a vampire. He's got your dad by the neck burning his house down while everyone's still inside, and then he's like forcing you to try and like taste it, take it, take a bite, you know, kind of thing. Like kiss it. Well, he's like, you know, he's like telling you you can't

51:39Mitch:resist the hunger. Well, it gives you two choices, and it's like give in to the hunger or resist. But then as you're going to press the button, they keep changing and they keep swapping to like give in. Like, you know, accept the hunger. Like you have to time it to where like you don't hit the wrong button at the wrong time.

51:56Tom:That's mean.

51:56Mitch:I hit the wrong button at the wrong time. You hate your dad out. You ripped his throat out.

52:03I was like, no! Not my daddy. I'll rip your throat out. I will find you.

52:10Mitch:Well, once you do that, you like go into this sobbing mess of a character for a minute. The vampire picks you up thinking that you're weak because you know you're you're upset about it, and he like pins you to the uh the tree, basically, and he's gonna kill you while he goes to bite you, and then realizes there's something different because like when he bites you, it like burns when he tries to drink the blood, and then he leaves you to die, and then the next morning there's this medicine woman that you know in the village, she wakes you up and like she's healed you, but you you find out that you know basically that's when you realize you're human during the day in a vampire at night.

52:45So is it pretty good?

52:46Mitch:It it's it's a lot of fun so far. The uh the fighting mechanics are kind of like uh Elden Ring, where you have to do like dodge and parry, yeah.

52:53Tom:Which the difference is like where you keep changing the buttons while you try to do it.

52:58Mitch:No, but like stop jumping! Where in Elden Ring, it's the same action to parry. This one, you have to be holding the block button, and then you whatever direction they're attacking from is the one you have to push towards. And it just it's like a continuous flow of fight. So, like, as if you parry at the right time, it'll kind of stagger them to where you can hit them a couple of times. If not, when they go to hit, I mean you're just constantly blocking them, but you have to keep moving the stick as you're trying to fight and swing at the same time.

53:23Interesting.

53:23Mitch:So it's a really good fight mechanic, and then adds in like you know, once you've either blocked so much or landed somebody hits, you power up one of your special moves. Where when you're right now, all I have as the the soldier when I'm during the day is basically I have pocket sand. Do you yell it while you're hard to get me, but yeah, I yell it. Because basically, like he'll be fighting and all of a sudden he'll just throw dirt in their face and then stab them.

53:49Tom:Yeah. So you're just playing as Dale Gribble.

53:52Mitch:Pretty much. But like as the soldier during the day. Now at night, you can either use the sword that you have, which you can find different uh like weapons and armor and stuff throughout the land, or you you know, when you kill people, you can loot their bodies and stuff. But uh, you can either as a vampire, you can fight with like you have these really sharp claws or a sword, you know, that you had during the day. But uh your special move then is basically like a vicious bite where like you activate this button on the one target you want, and he'll teleport into like a flurry of like black smoke and bats, appear behind him and just rip their throat out. Nice. So it's it's it works out.

54:26Tom:I'm just picturing my head a King of the Hill vampire game.

54:30Mitch:I mean it it is a lot of fun, and then the uh the graphics, they don't feel like they're quite up to par with Unreal Engine 5, which is what's supposed to be the engine. Because like every now and then you can kind of tell, or like, I'll go to climb up a rock and it'll kind of like phase through it a little bit, you know.

54:45Yeah.

54:46Mitch:But other than that, I mean it's it's really good. The story's really good so far. They kind of give you enough to where you you want to kill the bad guys, but there there's other things to venture off. But you have 30 days, and there's a day and night cycle, and certain activities take a certain amount of time of that day. And after 30 days, if you don't finish, then you don't save your family.

55:09Yeah, I heard that you can save your family and then continue on after that.

55:13Mitch:Right. So like it gives you the 30-day cycle that you have to you know work through, but like if you finish it beforehand, you'll save your family, however the story goes. Or you can just once the 30 days is over, the game doesn't end, you have to take vengeance for your family. Vengeance? I uh I was doing some research on it. They said there is actually a way you can beat the game in the first hour. Huh.

55:34Is it by holding still and not doing anything? No.

55:38Mitch:Turn back and go back the way you came. You can basically go and just choose to leave the valley. And that's one of the one alternate ending. You can just choose to like forego everything and just leave the value. No. Which was kind of neat. Yeah, it was like it gives you different different avenues of different things to do.

55:53We're about to wrap up, but I want to talk real quick about the uh debacle that is this Wolverine game.

56:00Mitch:Yeah, yeah. How's how's that? I haven't played it yet. I got it downloaded.

56:04I've heard that it is the most on Rails game that exists. I did see that. Where he's riding the motorcycle. There's one dude, he says this is the hardest difficulty, and he holds his controller up to show that he's not pushing any buttons. And the the Logan character just rides his motorcycle wrecking from rail to rail all the cars that he needs to kill or blow up, they just spontaneously explode after a while. And eventually, like he he takes like he never dies, he gets all the way to the end, and mission accomplished.

56:34Mitch:Well, that is dumb. Have you seen any other levels like that? Or is it just a one? Because that's all I've seen is that one motorcycle.

56:40Well, so like one dude was showing complaints about it where like he's he's like, We're uh obviously a younger generation that uh you know we are used to open world games where you're supposed to discover what the next step is in a quest or something like that. But this if it's made for an older audience, I think it's a little insulting. And it shows like he's like he kills some boss or whatever, he's like, What do I do next? And then Logan talks to himself, he's like, now I need to go get the key or whatever. And then there's like a golden trail uh that shows him which way to go, and it's a hallway, like he couldn't figure that out to begin with.

57:17Mitch:Well, no, I I researched that it's it's supposed to be he follows the scent, that's one of his superpowers.

57:22Sure, but that the linear level design as it is, and the characters say the key's over that way. So, you know, it's a little on the nose about all that, and I don't know. I I I I I heard that it's got middling reviews, and I can see where people are going with it.

57:40Mitch:Like the biggest thing I saw that somebody was complaining about, he was like, Oh, well, Logan's always been a loner, and now he's got all these people that he's working with or for or trying to help. It's like, well, if you've actually read the comics, he had he was a loner to start with until he found these other people, you know, until he met the X-Men.

57:57Yeah. He's the loner that wants to be alone, but then discovers the power of Mitch just slides his glasses up as though he's like, well, actually.

58:04Mitch:Well, he's got a daughter. He's got Scott Summers' uh daughter, who he goes and protects and like fights off the Avengers and the X-Men to keep her away so where she can make her own choices. He's got his son, which he ended up murdering. He's got his brother, which is Sabretooth.

58:18Jorama.

58:20Mitch:He's got all these different women throughout the ages that he loved. Mystique and Silver Fox and Utico.

58:26Well, you'll have to play it and give us your honest review.

58:28Mitch:I mean, it to me the it looks fun, but uh like I said, I haven't played it yet. I got it downloaded. I wanted to finish some of the Blood of the Dawnwalker first.

58:35Yeah, I played a game too, but we'll talk about that in the next episode. Oh, Riri.

58:43Mitch:Oh, real quick.

58:44Chiago Home.

58:46Mitch:I saw this guy. I saw this which one I saw this guy that uh he was it's just a social media thing that somebody put. He goes, he was looking at somebody's uh license plate on his car and it said X R O R eight. He goes, XR exer he must be Asian!

59:06Exemperate!

59:07Mitch:I was like, oh my god! The guy's like, you can hear it. This guy's Asian as well, but he goes, he is Asian! Exhibit!

59:14Have you seen the Hell Let Loose videos for the Vietnam stuff?

59:18Mitch:Oh, yeah, the one you showed me. Gee, I go home!

59:23Alright. We're we're done. Thank you.

59:27Mitch:Follow us on our website. Go, you know, go check out stuff, take some trivia, play with us on there, and see if you're gonna join up. Have some fun, some suggestions.

59:35Play us out, Fred. unknown: Partner. Keep on rolling, baby.

59:42Tom:Still hate it.

59:46I did it all for the noodie! Say it. Yeah, like all.
